For Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight, innovation has always been at the heart of Nike's DNA. These two pioneers of sportswear have always aimed to improve running shoes, in particular by innovating on shapes, materials, cushioning technologies, ect. Since its creation, Nike has supported athletes around the world to enable them to go ever further in their performances. For nearly half a century, Nike has been changing the sport through its creations. Sporting activities are the brand's main field of activity. But today, the lifestyle aspect has taken over and that's where Nike's best creations can be found.
In 1979, Nike launched the first pair with an air unit with the Air Tailwind. This bubble, present in the midsole, is then hidden from everyone's eyes. It was not until 1987 that this air bubble was revealed. The brand's designers at Nike have constantly reinterpreted this technology over time by playing on its shapes and characteristics. In 2019, Nike introduce the Air Max 720, the pair with the biggest air unit ever designed. It covers the entire sole and includes part of the base of the sneaker to provide optimal cushioning. A concentrate of technology, this Nike Air Max 720 offers a structured mesh shoe that fits the shape of the foot as well as possible and offers improved freedom of movement.
All its technical characteristics would not be relevant if the design of the pair was not up to the task. The designers created this Nike Air Max 720 based on the brand's history while breaking the codes. The pair has a sleek shape that gives it a very aggressive look. This colorway is inspired by the Northern Lights, whose colors can vary from purple to blue with green waves. Nike has not stopped at the pair and offers a special box also inspired by these mystical lights. There is an iridescent metallic paper inside a box displaying the many logos of the previous Air Max series.
