The adidas Americana appeared in 1971 at the feet of players playing in the American Basketball Association (ABA). The pair was specifically developed for the practice of basketball and the white, blue and red color tricolor color code directly referred to the graphic identity of this league today known as the NBA. Retroed several times in limited edition, especially in 2003, 2008 and 2013, the model returns once again in its OG colorway White/Collegiate Royal/Scarlet to the delight of fans of this mythical silhouette.
The reissue is largely faithful to the model released in the 1970s that greatly contributed to the fame of the brand. The pair is thus presented in its upper-stemmed version having the particularity of combining three main types of materials. The mesh is ubiquitous for the construction of this sneaker, although the original model was also developed with nylon to improve comfort during games. The ankle collar is leather while the yoke on the toebox is unveiled in suede with gray highlights. The adidas bands on the side are blue and red while the shoe is essentially white. The patch of the German brand on the tongue differs from the OG model and is replaced by a blue and white vintage logo. The sole is slightly yellowed to provide an aged effect to this adidas 2019 novelty. The adidas Americana Hi will be available on April 1st. The pair comes from the Spring/Summer 2019 collection.
